Blog

Hello you wonderful humans (and maybe bots!)
Whether you’re nosey, curious, bored, or if you just somehow found yourself here—welcome! You’re here now, you may as well stay for the story!
As I sit to write this, I can’t help but reflect on the whirlwind of events that have shaped my experiences, career, and life in general. Writing and storytelling stole my heart a long time ago…it’s been my biggest passion and driving force since I can remember, and truth be told, I highly doubt that will ever change. There’s something about the power of words that entices me and allows me to get momentarily lost in the best way.
I’ve always been ambitious, driven, and determined, and while I can just about draw a stick man to resemble a person…I’ve always had a creative side! Adding on to this…those that know me well will know that I have a geeky side and I’m proud of it! I love to learn, research, and analyse. So when I found digital marketing, everything clicked! It all snapped into place and as CRINGE as this sounds….I found what I have been looking for my entire adult life. It encompasses everything I love and I’m here for it!
Digital marketing is a minefield, and I still can’t get my head around why we need so many acronyms! It’s a constantly evolving field and is filled with strategic thinking, technologies, and the trends we all love to hate at times! You have to be on the ball to keep up, you have to want to learn continuously, and you have to be able to think outside of the box. Hence why I’ve fallen in love with it and have since started a master’s degree to give me as much knowledge as my brain can handle. Going back to university was daunting to say the least, and the fear was further heightened by the dreaded imposter syndrome that plagues my mind every day (stay tuned for THAT blog!)
However, I am well aware that a degree alone doesn’t get you a job and I wanted to add to my experience and be able to put my personal and professional mark on things…which is where Direct Pulse comes in! I have the work I do for my clients, but I also now have this digital hub which stands as my portfolio, my passion, and my playground! Along with my social pages of course…if you aren’t on them…check us out on Facebook and Instagram!
In this section you will hear about a variety of topics, some of which will be from my own perspective. Some may say this is a risky move because it’s here for everyone to see, including potential employers. So why would I do it? The simple answer is that I want to showcase my skills in a way that a CV simply can’t and I also want to be able to work in a way that shows who I am as a person.
I’m proud of who I am and I’m proud of the obstacles I’ve overcome, and if just one person can read something I write and feel inspired after doing so then I’ll be a happy bunny! Don’t get too excited….you won’t be getting any unnecessary details…just aspects of life and experiences that I feel people will resonate with and benefit from reading.
I’m also here to remind people that it’s never too late to start something new and that if a challenge feels daunting or unfamiliar…that’s often a sign of growth! I didn’t know how to build a website from scratch, but I learned…with some amazing help I might add! I didn’t have professional-level experience with digital marketing, but I developed those skills with my own clients, and I am committed to refining them further. I wasn’t an expert in website analytics and data exploration, but I’m diving in, eager to deepen my understanding with real-time practice that employers value. I’ve taken the plunge in a way that’s out of my depth because I know I won’t allow myself to sink. The point I am trying to make is that if you want to do something but you’re panicking because it’s all alien to you and you’re scared of making mistakes…just bite the bullet and do it. If you don’t, you’ll never know what amazing things are waiting for you!
Do me a quick favour….think of the most successful person you can think of….
How do you think they got there? Do you think they did everything right all the time? Did they just wake up one day and know how to be successful? NO. They started at the beginning just like everyone else, and they made the mistakes…probably lots of them. But this is the beauty of it. When they made their mistakes, not only did they own them….they LEARNED from them. So don’t let the fear of failure get in the way. See mistakes as your pathway to success and never stop striving for the goals that drive you every day!
I’ll stop rambling now…!
If you’ve got this far…thank you! I hope you enjoy the content I’ve got lined up and I’m so glad to have you here with me on this rather daunting but AMAZING journey! Lots will be happening, and I know that every minute of work that I put in, regardless of the blood, sweat and tears, will all be worth it, and that one day I’m going to look back and smile at this blog remembering where it all began…hopefully not rocking in a corner with flashbacks of website building!
